The Brief

My Role

Technical Design | Narrative Design | Level Design

My main role at the company is as a technical designer; for this project I wore many hats in the design realm from the start to the end of the project - it was a great opportunity to work on an immersive game with a nature theme, I learned a huge amount through it's development, not just in terms of my game design skills and XR, but about nature and our planet too!

  • Working closely with the design lead and creative director to research and ideate potential biomes, animals and game mechanics to be used throughout the game

  • Helping direct the art and code teams for assets and mechanics needed

  • Designing levels and greyboxing in Unity

  • Creating code for interactions

  • Implementing gameplay mechanics and node based narrative

  • Triggering audio and VFX

  • Producing references, documentation and storyboards

  • Script writing

Storyboards

I sketched a number of concepts and storyboards across the project to help illustrate the design ideas, as well as level flow and narrative, to communicate the design vision clearly with the art and code teams

Level Design

Sketching and iterating level designs and objective flows, before grey boxing in Unity with placeholder assets and final environment art
